Food Bank
Had a great time helping out at the Food Bank! Thanks to those who came out to lend a hand and make a difference! 3300 families are helped by the Food Bank each month! Matthew 25:40 says "whenever you did it for the least of these, you did it to me" ...meaning that when we put the less fortunate ahead of ourselves for something like this, it's as good as doing it for God...pretty amazing...

Snow
Well...due to the mother-nature-dump-of-snow over Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, we cancelled youth last night...most of you likely wouldn't have come anyways cause you were playing Manhunt in the snow ;)
Next week is Drop-In and our Jr.High Christmas Party! You can come as early as 3:30pm (we might put you to work to help get ready for the party that night though...lol...), we'll be having festive spaghetti at 5pm, or you can join us for the normal run-time of 7-9pm. Hope you can make it out and hope you can bring a friend! Stay tuned for more details!

Food Driver - Flyer Week
So, we braved the chilly winds last night to handout flyers for the food drive we're having next week. We got around to a fair number of houses - both knocking on doors and leaving flyers in mailboxes....so next week should be really great! So, make sure you plan to come out next week, bring a friend, and your warm clothes!
Thanks to all those who came out last night to help handout flyers and drink some fantastic hot chocolate!
After the handing out of flyers, we grabbed hot chocolate and sat down to chat about the Spiritual Discipline of Journaling/Keeping a Log. Something that most guys run the other way from and a good number of girls are already doing. We looked at King David for a few minutes, and the fact that all the Psalms he wrote are pretty much what we're talking about: being honest to God about how you're feeling at the moment, your frustrations, hopes, excitement, anything really...and then going back later to see how God's been working in your life. David did this many times and he was able to look and see answers to prayer, how God stepped in to meet his needs time-after-time, etc...
So...try it out...once a week...jot down some things about the past week...or some things about the week that's coming...ask God some questions...leave the "dear diary" behind and start talkin' to God...He's listening...and waiting for you to try something like this... ;)

Last night and next week!
Just Passed!(Nov.16th): Swimming at the South London Community Pool!!! Water climbing wall, slide, some boys chasing girls, girls pushing guys into the pool, some pool-lounging, and some 500-up...good times.
Also talked about the fact that we as Chistians should be bringing God's Word with us wherever we go...by memorizing parts of it!
We mentioned a couple of great scriptures to keep in mind as we go about our 'everyday':
"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." (Psalm 23:1) This is a great verse for guys to keep in mind as our 'want' list tends to get quite long, quite quickly. As we realize that God makes sure we have the things we need, it releases us from having to compete against everyone around us just for the coolest stuff or thinking that we have to provide for our needs all on our own.
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.” (Psalm 139:14,15) We see this scripture as HUGE for girls. Society is often telling girls that they need to look a certain way that if they don't, they won't fit in. As you remember that God has thought about making you exactly the way you are (and He can line up planets, create life, etc), He must have gotten you just the way He wants you!

It's so important for us to take scripture with us because, not only is it modeled in the Bible as something we should do ("I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:11), but quite often it's the only thing that's truly going to work against Satan trying to get us to want more things and to think that what we look like is far from anything anyone would desire.
Next Event (Nov.23rd): we're going to be handing out flyers to the neighborhood to let them know that the following week (Nov.30th) we'll be coming around collecting non-perishable food items for the London Food Bank. So, don't forget sweaters, jackets, hat, mits...whatever you need to stay warm as we go door-to-door! The chat on the 23rd will be another one of the Spiritual Disciplines: Keeping a Journal/Log.

Last night!
It was pretty great watching people walk into things and run around with their outstretched arms...blindfolded while they try to find things and complete tasks :)
Trust is somethin else eh? We say we trust them...but blindfold us and we're hesitant to have them lead us around. How about our trust in God though? Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." If we can just make it to the place where we let God in to all areas of our life and trust Him in all situations, He'll guide us and show us the future He has planned for us, "for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
Pretty kewl...
